First, I was going to angst. Then, I was going to logically discuss. Now, I'm going to do something totally better. ***Anime collection figure picture time*** I didn't think it was bragging, but maybe it is. It made me happy to take pictures of this, so if you don't want to look at them, that's cool.

    Image heavy.

I never realized how scary the religious right (write? bah) could be, until they encroached on my anime fandoms. Big Brother is very, very big, and less brotherly than I would like. They have too much money and time for my comfort.

In other news, here is my second trip to Japan. Pictures from Founders are forthcoming, I swear. Followed by pictures from Disneyland, including me hugging the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland!!!

I'm still going to grad school in August. I've lost 18 pounds. I may or may not have a lung deformity. I'm getting my TMJ fixed (hopefully) in late June. My car's driver's side door won't lock with the key fob anymore; I have to actually use the key to lock it. Also, my reverse lights are broken. And the paint is fading. *sigh* Let's see, what else do I need to share about my life?

Oh! A friend of mine just got engaged. Our lunch conversation today consisted mostly of jewelry purchasing and wedding planning. My jealousy knows no bounds! He sounded very happy, though, and that makes me happy.

My manga collection is still growing, with no end in sight. I'm starting to branch into manwa (forgive the spelling), which is manga made in Korea. Their female leads seem to have more attitude, pizzazz, spunk, etc than their Japanese counterparts. Perhaps that's influenced by my choices? I'm reading Hissing; Cynical Orange; Goong; Kill Me, Kiss Me; and Boy Princess (admittedly, that doesn't have girls in it). Someday, perhaps I'll type my list of manga in LJ. I keep a journal (a ledger?!) now, so that I don't buy things I already own. Some series I don't continue (Buso Renkin comes to mind, as does Angel Sanctuary), some series I finish and then despise (Paradise Kiss comes to mind, although I'm more mad at myself for not seeing which way the wind was blowing). Some series I read over and over again (Gravitation, Passion, the Only the Ring Finger Knows novels, etc).

Can anyone teach me / give me hints on how to actually wear make-up? I fail at being girly.

Other than that, I'm doing fabulously and I love all of you. Wanna talk on AIM, but don't have my screen name? Leave a comment, and I'll hook you up! *love*

I think I have inconvenienced a lot of people by moving to Arizona. I wonder? I'm not doing a great job at vice president in the alumni association, mostly because I can't get out there for every meeting.

Take this half of the year. I have a concert to go to (Video Game Music Live!) the Friday before the meeting. I could fly out Saturday, attend the meeting on Sunday, and go home on Monday. That'd be about $300 for the plane, plus another $150 ( I think ) for the hotel. I am, instead, going to give that money to the undergrads to pay off the remainder of my debt and stay here. In return, I'm going to PirateJosh's thingie, and Founder's. Sorry, everyone. *bows deeply* I'M TRYING TO BE A GOOD VEEP!! :O

I've been happily playing Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, and FINAL FANTASY XII. I like the new fighting system; it makes the long treks much easier to deal with.

Zombie Powder ... Although It would be cooler if it were Zombie **Power**!!!
This is going to be quick.

The new title out by Tite Kubo (mangaka of Bleach), Zombie Powder, is ... interesting. As is the style with this mangaka, everyone is always very well dressed, and there is a lot of attention to the clothes that the characters wear. As for the story, this is what would happen if Vash the Stampede was selfish, more open about his bad-ass-ness, willingly took little kids on his band of merry men, and was wielding a chainsaw sword instead of his gun.

Vash the Stampede and Gamma Akutabi (main character of Zombie Powder) both have a weird arm: Vash has the artificial arm, and Gamma has attached metal to one of his arms in order to stop bullets with his bare hands. Both have a soft spot for women and children, although Gamma will still fight them....just with his left hand instead of his right. Both wear tight black outfits with big flowy jackets. Both have a huge bounty on their heads. Both have a partner of sexiness: Wolfwood and Gamma's guy, who looks like a british banker or a salesman or something. Finally, both worlds have that "desert, no technology, everything sucks for the common man" feel to them.

If you liked the art style and sense of humor in Bleach, you'll like the sense of humor in Zombie Powder. If you liked Vash the Stampede, you'll like Gamma Akutabi. If you *don't* like series that turn out to have one too many similarities, then, well .... Death Note is really good!

Also, as a side note, I believe that Zombie Powder was released in Japan *before* Bleach. So, this is the series the mangaka drew before he skyrocketed into stardom with Bleach. It's not an important note, but it's something to keep in mind while reading it. I had my reservations about reading it, but I think it will turn out ok. I'm going to buy the second volume, and we'll see how it goes from there.

I should already be getting ready for work. Toodles!

    Dear Diary *cluck cluck*
It's been awhile. Pardon me as I ramble.

I'm keeping up on manga. Crossroads (by Go!Comi) is turning out to be much better than I originally thought, as is One Thousand and One Nights (which might be by NetComics). Meanwhile, J-Boy by Biblos was strictly ok, but you can find better stuff on yaoi_daily, or in the actual Japanese magazines. Or maybe I'm just too well read? The novels coming out from June are actually quite good, with The Man Who Doesn't Take Off His Clothes being the most evil of cliffhangers! The Only the Ring Finger Knows novels are a great trilogy I recommend to yaoi fans, and I believe that all novels being released by June for yaoi are by the same author. I'm not positive, though, so you may need to do your own research. Oh! And Black Knight (by Blu) is a rare gem of a love story that deserves a chance. The seme is a stern character that actually cares! Read it, leave it a week, and then read it again.

The Helling Ultimate OVA is everything you've ever wanted out of the Hellsing series, and more. I cannot recommend it enough. It's the first anime DVD I've bought in awhile, and I am not disappointed. If you liked the manga, you will drool on yourself over this. The soundtrack is excellent, the computer-generated artwork is great, and the animation is great. Sometimes the animation flips between gorgeous and manga-style, but the OVA has a good feeling to it. The director obviously put a lot of thought into it. If you get the special edition, it comes with a nice relief figure of Alucard, and who doesn't want THAT on their desk at work?!

Oh! To let you know what depths I've fallen to: I must now keep a notebook (A LEDGER) of what manga I own, so I do not buy duplicates. It's terrible, but I enjoy every minute of it. Once you have to go back to Borders for the third time because you bought something you already own, you'd keep a notebook, too.

I am in the process of writing my entrance essays for graduate school. I think Thunderbird School of Management is my first choice, so I'll be shooting for the top! Nothing but the best for a super moo! Once they're done, I have to pass on paperwork to the people writing me letters of recommendation, and then I have to figure out how to PAY for grad school. And I must take the GMATs soon. Whew!

I will be going to Japan again this summer. If you cannot live without a specific thing from Japan, let me know. If I cannot carry it back, I will mail it, and I will be going in EVERY SINGLE MAJOR ANIME STORE in both AKIHABARA and IKEBUKURO. I am a tornado of fangirl. *whirl whirl*

And now, this tornado of fangirl must go read some manga before bed. Tomorrow is at least a half day of work, followed by video games and possibly dates. I don't know. Either way, I'm getting Guitar Hero 2 for Christmas, and if you have Trogdor for Guitar Hero 2, I guess you really don't need a guy. Hmmm...

    So
Despite everyone's best judgement, I am in Japan.

I have already gone (once) to Akihabara, and I plan on going again! It is just too fun.

The two work people I'm with are the navigators, although they don't share the passion for anime that I do. I've been tagging along to translate for them (translate being used here very loosely), but I'll probably soon venture on my own and take over the city for me!

So, yeah. Pictures are forthcoming. :D

Short, sweet, and to the point.

I was in the ER Tuesday night, vomiting blood and freaking out my mother. I got shots, prescriptions, and missed my flight on Wednesday.
On Thursday, I went to the airport, got naseous again, and had to call for a ride home. My mom found my slumped over my bag at the airport, and we went to the doctor. The ER had prescribed the wrong medications (including an anti-nausea medication which makes you "loopy").

The moral of the story is I'm pretty much missing my trip tp Japan. I'm a sad little moo.

Japan is just around the corner! I have a new camera, and I'm hoping to post some pictures of stuff I see (including pictures of me being dorky!) What do you guys recommend for a site that will host my photos?

I plan to study for the GMATs on the plane, so that I might be well on my way to taking the test in December/January. That would give me enough time to take it again if I bomb. Then, I'll apply to graduate school (I need to find people to write me those letters of recommendation, eeek!), and two years (and an International MBA) later, I'll probably conquer the world. Or at least get a job. I like being in charge. Does that make me bossy? :D

Oh! I shall also be posting pictures of my manga collection and my figures, which are multiplying and becoming rather impressive and valuable. I know that the first set of Naruto gashapon are increasing in value. <3 The candy box figures are also difficult to find. I love them! I'll be buying them some friends in Akihabara!

So, the list of places to see (roughly): Akihabara (including Mandarake), Otome Road (there's a Mandarake there, too), the butler cafe B. lily on Otome Road, Toei Museum (I think that's the one that has the Giant Gundam for Photo Opportunities), and shopping for souvenirs that my family and friends would like. They're not into anime, so I'll have to find something more appropriate. We're staying in Shinjuku and Asakusa, in two business hotels and one absolutely fabulous traditional Japanese ryokan. It's going to be too fabulous for words.

    I love kittens!

Well, we just made all the hotel reservations for Japan. I also bought a camera, so I can take pictures of all the stuff I do. :D

The plane is taken care of via work, so now all I have to do is plan my days! The other people I'm going with want to see cultural things. I think that would be nice for a day or two, but I want to see a lot of pop culture -- specifically, Akihabara, cafes (especially maid cafes), and all the neat restaurants. And the anime. And the manga. And I might want to take a day trip to the official Naruto store. O.O I loves it.

Work is silly. Another interview on Wednesday, same company. This "branch" is willing to wait until post-Japan. :D

Oh, and I'm mad at a boy. He was mean to me, and I'm being womanly and choosing to not hang out with that set of friends. *womanly*

In closing, I'm going to Japan, neener neener, and I'm going to hunt down the amazing yaoi stores that MUST EXIST. *thrilled with life*

I don't update for years, and all you get is as follows:

    1. Snakes on a Plane was better than I expected.
    2. I'm going to grad school next year.
    3. I'm going to Japan before grad school.
    4. When I graduate, I think I'm going to start a business.

My manga collection has gotten out of control, so I'm pretty up-to-date on the series I follow, which are surprisingly few. Still, someday my collection will outweigh that of Borders or your local comic shop if I don't slow down.

Any suggestions on things I should visit in Japan? I'll be there for a week.
